Power Supply

I have a Compaq Presario 6196EA. I think that the psu in my comp is 235W. I am buying a new graphics card, the Radeon X850 Xt Platinum Edition 256 Mb Agp. I am also adding an extra 1GB of RAM and have a 2.53Ghz processor.
To run this graphics card do i need to upgrade the power supply. This could cause a problem because i think my comp is uATX format which limits the size of the psu i can fit to little more than i've already got. Any opinion welcome. Thanks

Yeah you'll need a new Power Supply for sure. I'd get a new PSU and Case if I were you. You'll need a good 400watt PSU I'd say. Is your motherboard a Micro ATX as well?

I have a question about your 2.53ghz CPU also, is it a Pentium Celeron? If so you're going to need to upgrade that as well, becuase it'll bottleneck your graphics card to hell. If so, just upgrade your whole PC from scratch

There is no doubt that you need to upgrade your psu. The chances of the psu going loco with that videocard are around 90%, don't bother taking any risk on that. You need a new psu that can atleast handle 400w or up (you might not need it all but just in case)

Uatx mobo's are not that special and should be able to handle most basic cpu's or if you want a really good one: A Zalman!

sell the case and the interior. keep the monitor, keyboard, etc. buy new non-uatx stuff
