Yeah I dont know what you are trying to pull playing COD2 on a 1.8 with a 9700. I have 1.5gb ram, Sempron 3400, and an X800GTO2 16Pipes@555/1230, and it runs like ass IMO on my box..

I run on a 2.5, 9800pro and it runs slow as shit. Of course, I always try to turn to graphics up too high, but that's not really important.

i run on a p4 3.2 HT@3.8 2Gig Corsair XMS3200 RAM 2-2-2-5 6800GT@435/1175 and 2×80 Sata SB AUD 2 ZS all enabled highest 4×AA EAX 3 etcetc 45+ fps i use the
xtreme G drivers version 81.98 and just good tuning of pc good luck cu

JMS: You might say that the sempron is a shit, but it is highly overclockable. I can run it at up to 2.5ghz. So it only has 256kb of cache. Its the same processor as the A643200, with half the cache. A friend of mine has a athlon 64 3200, and in ANY cpu test I smoke him at stock cpu speeds, although I have 2gb of pc4000 running at DDR580...

I upgrated my audio settings, i have bought a sound blaster audigy 4, still i have a pb, the game cant just run smooth on my pc...i have all to extra with 2x FSAA and in 1024x768...when i go in 1280x1024, it's laggy...sure it's beautiful, but un playable for the kinda gamer i am.

Because of the extensive use of overdraw (smoothing, blur, blooming) in this game, to enable AA on top of all this will require a top-end GPU and a 3GHz processor to achieve decent framerates. Its all about fillrate and pixel shader performance. Apart from these overdraw effects the COD2 engine is pretty basic, so on cheaper computer systems I would tend to turn off smoke smoothing, Anisotropic filtering and definetly Anti-aliasing completely. If you got a 3GHz, 1GB RAM and a nice non-integrated soundcard it should run as good as the developers intended to on most x800/x1000/6x00/7x00 parts.

I play it at 1024x768@75Hz, 16x AF, 2x AA with all settings maxxed and I achieve 25 to 45fps throughout even the busiest battles. Even peeps with XBox360s will have nasty drops in performance with this game, so dont concern yourself too much.
