I am currently running an ECS NFORCE4-A754, Sempron 3400(2.0ghz@2.34) 1gb(2x512) Gigaram PC3200 2.5 3 3 7, and a x800GTO2 unlocked w/16 pipes, 555 core and 615(1230 effective) I got build this computer on a budget in mid-october, and am unsatisfied with performance in newer games(Quake4,Fear,COD2) so as of xmas day(thanks family and friends) I am getting an MSI Neo Platinum 939 mobo, Athlon 64 4000, 2GB OCZ Gold PC4000 DDR500(already in the mail
Far Cry, Painkiller, Battlefield 2 er whatever I can rip through at 16x12, maybe with some AA depending on game, but newer stuff like FEAR I run in 1024 with AA, which in my mind looks like crap.. I could get a Zalman or an Artic Cooler for my card and potentially see a 600mhz core, but I would still be lacking shader model 3.0 and my doom engine performance would still suffer behind the top n cards. With games coming out early next year utilizing the DOOM3 Engine such as PREY, and ENEMY TERRITORY QUAKE WARS, I would hate to be left behind playing in low resolutions with low framerates.. |

Hello
I have a ASUS 6800 Ultra, GPU Speed = 425 Mhz, MEM Speed = 1.1 gig Benchmarked at 4786 in 3Dmark 05, and 12,267 in 3Dmark 03 The benchmark was taken before i overclocked the graphics card using a 3.0 Ghz Presscott CPU, with 1 meg cache, and 800 Mhz FSB, on the Board P4P 800 VM, and the cpu temp at the time of benchmark was 74 degrees C, at 76 the graphics go into an infinite loop, like music cds do sometimes. the graphics card took 105 watts of power, the GPU Temp = 91 degrees C, the external sensor on the card was 76 degrees C. I overclocked the card to GPU Speed = 435 Mhz, MEM Speed = 1.24 gig, the GPU core temp was now 105 degrees C, external temp was now 88 degrees C. I could not do a benchmark since the heat coming of the graphics card overheated my hard disk and caused blue screen, the hard disk powers down if i over clock with the lid on the computer, but ok with lid off, but not as atractive, and a lot noisesier. I do not over clock my cpu, since it recheases its max temp now. Regards Andrew
