That is a PCI-XPress card with 2 laptop GFX boards on it in SLI.

You cannot update your laptop graphics unless you currently own a PCI-Xpress Nvidia 68xx or ATI Radeon high-end part mobile chipset.

your laptop motherboard is built on an AGP4x interface, however you have an embedded graphics controller, which means it is more than likely soldered onto the motherboard. Give me your make and model number and I will find out for sure. ;)

If this is it R511829 then its not possible to upgrade your graphic card, certainly not"without having to take it into the shop". At the end of the day laptops are laptops, meant for a purpose, games should be played on a desktop if you're serious, imo.

What about a higher end alienware laptop with a 7800go video chip in it(for eg.......is that not good for gaming??
laptops can be just as quick as a desktop pal, except there better cause u can bring it with you where ever you want without the hassle of packing a whole back seat of a car up with gear...

Still not as good as my PC... however mobility is a plus point. Oh and BTW your current laptop can not be upgraded, however if you had a nvidia 6x00/7x00 or ATI Radeon X1x00 mobile chipset, they can be easily upgraded as they are MxM modules, which are exactly what you see plugged in on that PCI-e card a few posts up. That is in fact a Nvidia GeForce 7600 mobility in SLI on 1 card! Woot!

Looks like you got more than you bargained for in that sub par laptop. Maybe you should do some research before buying something. You can always play DOOM part one on that thing.
