What about a higher end alienware laptop with a 7800go video chip in it(for eg.......is that not good for gaming??
laptops can be just as quick as a desktop pal, except there better cause u can bring it with you where ever you want without the hassle of packing a whole back seat of a car up with gear...
WOOT :Oo: I thought we were talking about your R511829? For less cost and more performance I can build 2 desktops for the same price as a 7800 Alienware. (although I wouldn't say no if I were given one for free). In your original post you were hoping to upgrade to a 9800 mobility, and since you cannot, why not put the money towards beefing up your desktop? I don't know why you decided to be a smart arse bringing Alienware 7800 go's into the mix? At least I know not to reply to any of your future posts. Is that ok with you, PAL.

Umm Desktops are better for gaming! They are more powerful... and easily updated. Laptops still need to be plugged into the mains to compete with PC gaming, so you might aswell just bloody have a PC. Running on batteries shifts laptops into 50% power usage and shuts down all the good bits!

Sure, I brought my brother an alienware area51 with Geforce6800 Ultra about 8 months ago and its nice, yeah defo nice... but its massive, you can't put it on your lap and it lasts 25 minutes on battery!... You need to use a mouse to play games, because the touchpad is naff... and tbh its only saving grace is the nice TFT screen.

the only thing that is somewhat hard to update on a laptop is the video chip....everything else is just as easy to upgrade as on a desktop pc, same prices too pretty much. and who cares if you have to leave the thing pluged in to play games, big deal..its still alot easier to take with you then a desktop setup. :Oo:
