hey... basically im looking to start putting together a new machine, sick of my machine thats starting to show its age...

anywho.. im looking at ATI video cards, since they have always seemed to be reliable from what ive had (have had 4 of em.).. but i just have one question.. whats the difference between an xt video card and a Pro video card? if need be.. im looking at Radeon x1600, and im not sure whether the xt or the pro is more suitable for mainly gaming?

any help is appreciated on the matter, thanks ^_^

not entiiiiiiiiiiiirely sure, but i think the pro is more for the multimedia movie style experiance. i have a saphire 9600xt, which is very old but still can handle pretty much every game to date. iv been told to go with the xt's for gaming, but i think that was cos the pro cost more :P

The XTs generally have better performance in games. The x1600xt has higher clocks and better memory compared to the pro, but is otherwise the same.

I don't know much about current Intel mobos (more of an AMD fan), but have a look at some of these motherboards:

(I'm guessing you're American :P ) Just have a read of what the reviews say.

Also, I wouldn't advise getting an x1600xt, go for something a bit more beefier if you're into games, such as x1800xt or 7800gt. Depends on how much money you want to spend though.
