ES: Oblivion

theres definately something wrong with your rig. i gots an oc'd XFX 6800GT 380/1.05 and its running ob allmost all on high at 1024x1280 w/o FF or AA. (fps about 20-30 avg, dungeons are the best, having a lot higher)... its absolutely awesome.

just about the same as choup described. nice going on the ini tweaks, might keep an eye on that one.

i promise ill make some screens.

I did indeed post that I get 20-30 average so I am in the ball park, if I do have everything on high it boogs down to 15 sometimes, I'm just trying to keep things as smooth as I can, but my card does performe similare to yours....

BTW did you know you cant have AA and HDR at he same time....nativley...WTF.

The X1900XTX can give AA and HDR together in Oblivion. I suppose GeForce7900 can do it too.
but Oblivion is supposed to be opt for ATi...while I always thought those "made for" thingys are BS:

7xxx series can't enable sm 3.0 hdr+aa because nvidia is retarted.

Wrong! I run Oblivion at 1280x1024, 4xAA, 8xAF with full HDR!

Full HDR and AA on 7800GTX is possible, you just need to force it through the driver control panel, not the in-game settings.

Oblivion hurts my Radeon 9800 pro :nxs:

Oblivion. i have checked best buy and didnt see it. is it a game u can only purchase online or did i just look for it when it was out of stock... is this a new game? and what kinda game is it?fps role playing??

You should find Oblivion in pretty much all stores by now. Maybe they were just out of stock when you went in since it's just been released.

The game is basically an fp-rpg set in an absolutely enormous fantasy world (almost too big!), complete with cities, towns, countryside, forests, swampland, mountain ranges and of course undead skeleton filled dungeons! You can get involved in the main story which goes on about murdered kings long lost sons and demon portals etc....go around hitting enemies, talking to npcs, levelling up, stealing peoples things etc... or you can just wander round and take in the views and do side quests. The rpg elements are pretty in depth with detailed character creation, character levelling, magic, enchanting weapons, thousands of items, but they purposely simplified the whole process so that its not so overwhelming for players new to the genre.

People have been saying very good things about Oblivion. If you've played any of the Elder Scrolls games like Morrowind or previous ones, you'll know what to expect from the gameplay, but the gfx in OB are spectacular in places. The only draw back would be that you either need a beastly PC to run it in all its glory, or get an xbox 360. But I suppose neither are really drawbacks if you've got enough cash lying around.

I'm waiting till the end of the month to buy this though cos of exams, since I know how addicted I'd get to it if I got it now!
