![]() Bit-tech just posted their in depth article on Oblivion. It shows you what the highest, medium and lowest settings look like, and also how most of the popular gfx cards fare at running this demon of a game. http://www.bit-tech.net/gaming/2006/03/31/...oblivion/5.html I linked straight to the mid-range performance tests cos thats what we were talking about, but there's some high-end tests and other nice info on previous pages. According to their tests the max playable settings (with 15-37.2fps) on the BFG 6800gt OC was: -1024x768 -HDR on -8x AF -Large textures -Medium details -Medium draw distance This game is even more demanding than FEAR was! And to get the best visual quality out of it (not always important :P), the only way is by investing in an X1900XTX or 7900GTX OC... The 360 version is tempting, but I'd have to run it letterboxed, scaled up and with 2 speakers instead of 5.1 (dont have a digital amp), and I dislike playing first person games with analog sticks. The AF seems to be pretty poor too, but at least the draw distance is good.. |

Well I run the game in 1280x1024, with 2x AA, bloom on, details: high characters: high, everything else on high except the grass at 2/3 of the bar. the game runs at a constant 20-25 fps, but i prefer eye candy to performance, i'll make screenies so you get an idea of how the game runs for me.

Okay, remember to back up your orinigal oblivion.ini file first. I disabled things like grass, which gave a big fps boost. You have a much better card than me (I have a Radeon 9800pro), so you can obviously have more candy on the screen than myself :nxs:
Just copy and paste this into the oblivion.ini file LINK HERE That should give you a nice fps boost. |
