As I have read (and hopefully tou too), it is recomended to have such hardware as a 6800 or x800 GFX card, 3Ghz or equivalent CPU and a 1GB of RAM. The game play videos must be on some high end SLi or crossfire system, I have noticed there are no hiccups or delays. The game it self appears to use large and very robust enviorments. So the question is what performance are we to get with such hardware specs?
Reason I ask, and I am sure others are also wondering, is whether to upgrade or not. anyone have a lead, source or info on this subject? I know there are beta testers, so the truth is out there. |

being a big oblivion fan after seeing some footage a year ago, i know from the official forum you would get from the recommended specs a pretty stable 25-30 fps. they SAY.
however, apperently there are enough toggles and sliders to adjust it to your taste. i think your rig will push the aforementioned estimate FPS.

Do you have a link that post?
I'm shooting for 40+ tsable FPS, with all this considered I may have to upgrade to the highest performance AGP card there is, most likley the 7800gs. I know, I know AGP is dead, but I can either afford a decent card or new mobo, but not both. |

are you sure about that sprig? even in AGP? i mean, i gots AGP too. how would a 7600GT be better than a 7800GS? judging from the search records on google, i think its lesser.

well obviously the game will look better in ps 2.0 mode, but I'm sure it'll run in 1.4 mode like half life 2 which still looks pretty damn good to me, can barely tell the difference runing it on my mobility radeon 9000 compared to my old 9800 pro i had...

its not the mere use of oblivion on 1,4 , its just, according to the devs, unable to play with 1,4.

..So I got the game, and my gfx card melted!
wait..no it didnt. Anyway.. I get 15 to 60ish FPS and average 20-30 with thses settings: DirectX 9.0c december ed. All systems driver updated nVidia driver 84.20 GFX card overclocked 10% Using GFX card defalut settings Res 800x600 Max view distance = all the way up Distant land = on HDR or bloom = no Object view = low Item view = low Grass distance = low Tree distance = low NPC view = low All shadow distance = low Specular distance = medium and those are my performance results for ES:O. Though It does look preety if you turn the Distant land off you gat a pretty good boost in overall FPS, my average is 50-60, but that take alot away from the game. |

Hmm, I was hoping an OCed 6800gt would do better than that.
I've read in places that 6800gt's can get decent speeds (ie 20-40fps) at high-max settings, 1024res and hdr on, as long as AF and view distance are kept slightly lower. Apparently there are a few ini file tweaks to play with as well, and changing 'max frames to render ahead' to 0 in nVidia settings reduces mouse lag. Dunno how true that is.. Any chance of a couple of screen captures? ![]() ![]() Makes me want to go for the 360 version after all! :bucky!: But then someone else came up and said even on lower settings his 6800gt was managing scenes like these... ![]() ![]() I suppose it just depends where you're looking. ![]() |
