Fastest is the RAID connected HDD (on SatA)

SEAGATE Cheetah 300GB 10k U320 SCA

This HDD is about 5000 US dollars And fastest in the world !!!!

At least reading from tests !!!

If you can afford one you're good !!!

Mostly, SCSI drives are designed for 24/7 server use, whereas most SATA drives are designed for desktop use. The release of SATA II(now supportted on most mid/high end mobo's)and WD's excellent 150GB 10000RPM 16MB Raptor, I see no reason to use SCSI in a desktop anymore. Although on price/performance I'd highly recommend a Samsung SpinPoint 250GB SATA-II 8MB, an excellent drive for very little cost-£63(almost 4gb per £1), my 36 gig Raptor equates to 1gb per £2.
