Gainward release 7800GT 512MB-AGP

Gainward have released a 20 pipe AGP 7800GS 512MB (basically a 7800GT 512MB in disguise). The card is aimed at peeps wanting the fastest graphics card available but are reluctant to upgrade to PCI-E, yet (mainly skt A/skt 478 users). Its not an official NV product hence NV would get upset if a 7800GT existed on AGP platform. So it seems Gainward have pulled a fast one as theres no denying this is a 7800GT (G70 core) 512MB AGP card. Although, if your running a A64 processor you'd be better of buying a PCI-E motherboard and 7800GT 256MB for the same price, and have the option of SLI in the future

damnit, where was this when I upgraded! :P I reckon my next upgrade will be to PCI-E anyway, it's probably not worth the price to upgrade from 6800gt just to keep my agp mobo is it? Tho if I have to change my mobo I also have to change my ancient processor..so either way its gonna be an expensive upgrade!

How comes this card is so expensive anyway? Surely it should be at most ~£220 inc vat. I mean like you said the pci-e 7800gt extreme edition 256 is only £188 atm. Why such a premium for 512 ram and agp?? The silent fan you could get for about £15. I suppose 512 ram is all the rage nowadays...

Maybe a 6600GT or 9800 pro but deffo not worth upgrading from a 6800GT. Even if it was the same price as the PCI-E version I'd rather save the extra and go for the full PCI-E upgrade.

Yeah, I guess the 512MB of RAM comes into play where the pricing is concerned. Plus there's still a lot of peeps on AGP who are reluctent to overhaul a perfectly good system. Not everyone has the know how/confidence in building their own PC, tis much easier to plug in another AGP card. I guess these are the customers Gainward are targeting/taking advantage of

it really rox people 15+ K in 3dMark 03 standard i didnt clock it yet since i didnt need to
and the 512 ddr3 helps for sure

the cooler is silent too

runs all games f.e.a.r cod2 etcetc fullout 60 fps +
