Simple question: I need a good keyboard, one that can both play games and do schoolwork. Does anybody have recommendations? A couple things I want:
Durability: I need something that will last
Key Carry: (AKA the amount of press needed to push keys down) I would like fairly heavy key carry
Price: Max $50-60, the lower the price the better
Looks: Not a big thing, but a nice-looking keyboard would be nice
Special Features: I'll take 'em, but I don't need them...I don't see what's so great about hitting a button for Internet Explorer instead of just clicking three times to get it through START...
Sorry if this is a sorta awkward request, but I figured I'd ask. The two that I'm thinking of specifically right now are the ZBoard Merc and that one Eclipse. Are they good, and also, can a ZBoard be useful for everyday typing?
Thanks in advance,
DD31

Okay, I'll narrow it down for you guys:
Saitek Eclipse
Saitek Gaming Keyboard
ZBoard Merc
Zboard
Logitech G15
Which is best? And, BTW, I don't play in the dark, so I don't care about backlit keys.

Not to be rude or anything, but its just a keyboard, they're all pretty much the same. A standard Logitech or Microsoft keyboard would suffice. Now the real important choice, what mouse pad colour are you going to pick

Well, a keyboard with a cord still has a better responsetime than without it. Minimal but sometimes in a game you need that minimum. The Logitech g15 is probably the best because I haven't heard of the other ones

I'm using an 'MS Natural Ergonomic 4000' at the moment. Stupid name, but its quiet, comfortable and cheap! Works for me, heh. :P
The logitech g15 is the best out of that list though imo.

I have the IBM SK-8811 and I guarantee if you buy it you will not be disappointed. Its a budget keyboard that I got from my dads old workplace computer but I will vouch that it is the best computer keyboard mankind has ever conceived. It is brilliant for gaming and feels great on the hands. My typing feels more comfortable than ever on this keyboard when it is tilted up. I actually prefer keyboards that click when you press the keys because it feels more responsive and accurate. Highly recommended, you can probably get one on ebay for like $10.
Durability: This is IBM for christ sakes! You can throw a bomb at it and it will survive!
Key Carry: It has the perfect key carry, a little more on the heavy side which is perfect for gaming but great for writing long essays.
Price: You can probably get this for under $20 easily.
Looks: I think its good looking, black with greyish purple colored enter keys and nice font on the keys.
Special Features: Just the bare essentials here, but that is all you need. Spend more time playing games, not fiddling with keyboards. Honestly if I were rich I'd buy everybody this keyboard and prove how great I think it is. Try and get one...

I gotta say, keyboards are just not that important to me. As long as I can type on them, I don't have a problem. The split ones just suck. Other than that, they are all the same to me. The only reason I love the one I have is because it is made for a laptop. It bends, resists liquid, and is quiet! The only thing it doesnt do is light up. If this one was to go out though, I would use a $10 keyboard from the 90s as it makes no difference to me

OKay, as long as there isn't that much of a difference. For some reason, I thought one of those specified "gaming keyboards" would be way better than anything else on the market. I'll give that IBM one a shot...I like heavy, clicky key carry, and I need a durable keyboard.
