Hi, gys, I have the following problem:

I recently bought an ASUS DVD Writer Drive (DRW-1608P25) The thing is - It seems I can't write movie files (AVI) on it... not on DVDs, not even on CDs... I can write the same files on the same rewritable disk on my Samsung CD-writer with no problems at all. So is there some sort of a hardware copy protection on this drive... if so I would get rid of it and buy another one. :nxs:

Before you start flaming me about copying movie files - these are my very own homemade AVIs shot with my very own private camera.

Also, I have a DVD ISO-image of a friend's graduation party and I can't copy it on a DVD disk and he ensures me there is no copy protection in the ISO as he made it himself.

I'm using Nero Burning ROM 7.0.1.4 for both my writers, so I suspect it is some hardware related issue.

I'd appreciate any help you might give me on that.

Yes, I've compiled some data DVDs and the burning went OK. There were also some jpegs on the AVI DVDs too... anyways it says "Burning process completed successfully" and when I try to read them it says there is no disk in the drive... Yes I've tried them on my TV DVD player and on my laptop - same stuff

Make sure you are burning using a file system that doesnt require a Windows 2000/XP PC to read it. I think ISO should be fine, however I think UDF is not. Otherwise I would try and get hold of a firmware update.
