Hey guys, I'm new to both the forums and PC hardware. I'm looking for an above-average gaming PC as well as a monitor and printer to go along with it. I'm working with a budget of $3,000 and I would appreciate any help you guys may have to offer. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no computer know-how. I came across this PC earlier today and thought I'd post it's specs here for criticism. It seems reasonably priced as well as high-quality.
Specs: • Intel Pentium D 960 Dual-Core Processor @ 3.6GHz 2x2MB L2 Cache • Dual Core Technology Ready • Asus P5ND2-SLI DX PCI-X MB • 1GB PC5300 DDR2 667 RAM • 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache HD • 2 x NVIDIA Geforce 7900GT 256MB Video • 16X DVD-ROM Drive • 16X DVD+-RW Drive • High Definition 7.1 Sound • Logitech X530 Speakers System • Microsoft® Windows® XP Home • CoolerMaster Praetorian RC-730 420W Aluminum Case /w Xtreme Liquid Cooling Technology • Operated extremely quiet and cool w/ water cooling Link: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/infxlc.asp?v=d Please be specific in your replies as I'm new to all of this. Thank you. |

Ok, first off you are going to need atleast 2 gig of ram to be able to play mot of today's game's . Second, onboard audio takes away too many resources from your mobo. I'd suggest getting a loose soundcard to get some better framerates, I personaly have the X-fi and that has special drivers for the creative boxes that are in that list too.
Cool setup, nothing more to add here. Edit: Almost forgot, WELCOME! Edit2: The power of your psu isn't enough. I'd go over 500w.

2 Gigabytes needed indeed for games like F.E.A.R,Battlefield 2 etcetc and future games.
And take a heavvier supply i would go for this Very nice setup!but wouldnt you go for a Intel Conroe E6600 CPU? Or a AMD Dual core X3800+ or higher ( better for gaming than p4 D) Just my opinion ![]() |

My suggestion is on the speakers...i dont know how much those run(not very high i bet) but one the to top of the line pc speakers is the logitech z-5500. I HIGHLY recommend this. I have this set and they are simply awsome. Along with everything else the find folks here suggested I think you should have a nice PC.

Get some PC2 6400 RAM as well, not 5300. Plus that PSU seems pretty weak for an SLi configuration. If I were you I'd get at least an 550watt PSU to ensure a stable system. |

Looks Good
I agree 2 Gigs will help and I would also go a step furthor on your Operating System (i.e. 64 bit Edition) or if your really patient and have some extra money kicking around wait till fall for Vista to come out. Along with Vista you will get directx10 which is great for running games, especially games like Crysis.
