As BF2142 is based on the BF2 engine, you should have no problem running it with the 5200. If you want to up grade though, the GF 7600gt is about 150 and the GF 6800XT is about 130. You will notice a big jump with both

Hi,

Im planning on buying a new graphics card. I currently have a GeForce 5200 FX 128mb ram video card, but i doubt that it will play Battlefield 2. I have a budget of appox. $160. I was just wondering what kind of video card should i get for less than $160 that could handle BF2. Thanks.

What are the other specifications of your PC? The Geforce fx5200 will play BF2, but the frame rates will be terrible, even at very low resoltions.

I agree with NXS, go with the Geforce 7600GS. Just make sure you have an AGP port on your motherboard before buying. I'd probably go with THIS if I was in your position. That will handle BF2 with good frame rates.

I have just purchased an ATI Radeon X1600 Pro 256Mb AGP for my work PC. It cost me £59.00, which equates to about $120. Its a good card and plays Prey and BF2 very well at 1024x768 resolution.

However the 7600 is supposed to be the better AGP part!

I'm currently running a ATI X700PRO 256mb DDR3 gfx card and BF2 runs smooth as silk @1024 res. and everything on high detail. I'm also running a Pentium D dual core 3.4Ghz cpu, so that helps too I guess, i don't know, anyways x700pro is decent card for the price, got mine for $139 just sucks cause it don't support SM 3.0, but BF2 don't use that anyways ;)
