ok you guys gotta tell me if this is my vid card or my mobo causing the problem.
with out my gigabyte radeon x1300 pcie x16 card my puter boots and runs just fine on the onboard vid.
If i install the vid card it will not post and the lights on my dvd rom and cdrw drives flash like crazy and you cannot get them to open.
the mobo is an ecs761gx-m754
the power supply is a 20+4 pin hipro 500w.
so is my vid card dead or is it just not compatible?

no effect even tried disconnecting both the cdroms too see if it was the psu.
nope.
so two psu's and limited ammount of items connect and still no go.

Its possible that your graphics card is soaking up your PSU power (or your PSU is cheap and not putting out properly).. I suppose that would cause your CD drives to go crazy cos' they cant get enough power... try changing the PSU?

it wasn't failing on both.
nvidia aparently works just fine right out of the box.
its ati pcie cards that caused a problem.
