I thought I had heard they'd be around $1200. About $200-$100 more than the current price on the Core 2 Duo X6800.

Oh and just say quad core, Quadro makes me think of nvidia's workstation card

Well I do not need to guess. I have already bought my kentsfield QX6700 for 1050$USD + 60$ for shipping
Cheaper models will merge some time next year!

I'm more surprised by the shipping costs! $60 for a processor?! Damn, are they 15Kg now?

BTW, look at the benchmarks done by Valve on their quad enable source engines!

Interesting tgf, but you do have to wonder what, or more precisely, how many fine-threaded routines are there that need to distributed to 4 seperate cores?

Scene Rendering, AI, Physics and....? Now its more than likely that Physics will be handled on a GPU or Dedicated addon board, so thats hardly going to eat an entire 3GHz core up... maybe Valve are saying this so Intel send them a few token quadcore workstations as a 'thankyou!'.. if you know what I mean!
