In a few days/weeks/whenever the f**k I can get my hands on one, I will be purchasing a Nintendo Wii. Here are some questions I have for you hardware junkies. As you may know, the wii's component cables run in 16x9, so what I'm asking is, could I purchase this Component to VGA along with the component cables, and display it on my 16x10 pc monitor?
Side inquiries: - Will it look like hell? - Will it run in proportion? |

you might get two results
game will simply refuse to run on 16x10 monitor - black screen (better than windows blue screen :P ) game will work but u might see some black bars at the top and bottom/or left and right (not sure) or as u said game will scale down to fit ur monitor |

Yeah, I really dont want to take a chance with ordering this when I'm not sure it will work. I'll wait out a bit and see if some people on the internet say it does, or if (gasp) nintendo could grow some cojones and realize people use their PC monitors (gasp, nintendo, gasp [I still <3 nintendo]) and make a VGA Cable. Either way, muchos gracias para el informacion, senor!

my friend tried the vga thingy on a 4:3 moni and it works great. dunno about widescreen thou but it seems to me that most Wii games are in fullscreen anyway. But with a real scaler it should also run fine. don't forget that the graphic quality on a high res LCD is worst than TV. if you have to play on a monitor then CRT.
