I know I've been out of the loop for a while which is why I kinda stopped posting here in the past year but the time has come to build my new pc.

in the january issue of Maximum PC magazine they reviewed both the nvidia 8800 GTX and GTS. the strange part was the benchmark results for their sli tests.

both tests were done with an EVGA nForce 680SLI mobo, 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Extremem X6800, and 2GB of Corsair DDR2 ram.
Game tests were 3DMark06 with 4x AA, 16x aniso. FEAR soft shadows on, 4x AA, 16x aniso. Company of Heroes all settings maxed and AA enabled.
Single card tests done in 1920x1200 and sli tests in 2560x1600

results of the GTX tests:

results of the GTS test:

now obviously the GTX will beat the GTS hands down in the single card setup, but as you can see with the same setup, just diffferent cards, the GTS shows up the GTX with the exception of FEAR. anybody got any idea what is going on? is this just some kind of fluke that's happening with dx9? will the GTS setup be better for dx10 in the future? I'm not gunna be buying my cards till april or may but this is definatly a big desicion when the time comes.

There numbers are wrong, it is as simple as that. An Nvidia 8800GTX SLI setup will always beat the 8800GT, its a much faster board.

Go visit a nice hardware site, like HWHell.com or the Beyond3D forums and ask em there.

ok. ya. I've been lookin around and even checked tomshardware but didnt really find anything to answer my question. its kinda odd that they'd get their numbers mix up though.
