I think the real thing with 64-bit is that no one was willing to invest in a 64-bit OS when there were no programs or games for it. I tried out XP 64-bit. It was ok, but a lot of programs I have wouldn't fun on it. And I'm not going out to buy all new programs for that purpose.

Well I've got a friend who works for Intel and he got me a great deal on
a QX6850 cpu. That was last week and it fired right up. But when I tried
to overclock it my mobo died so I ordered a Asus Striker Extreme. Well
the Striker came in yesterday and I put it all together this afternoon at
work :-) I took a bunch of pictures, hopefully they'll turn out good. I figured
I was going to have to re-install Vista and lose the data on my raid arrays,
but no, it booted right up. I had to reload a few drivers and re-activate Vista
for the 4th time on my oem version. I'll be doing a little overclocking tomorrow
and I'll see how well my new QX6850 does. I'll post some pictures tomorrow,
after I back my data up :-)

Well I got the new cpu and my EVGA 680i mobo died. So I bought an Asus Striker Extreme and
it had major problems. I'm now running a Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi. And one of my 8800GTX's
crapped out and I'm waiting on my RMA replacement. But I'm up and running again at least.
Here's a few pictures :-)

Welcome back the real world!

I had one of my SATA controllers go funny over the festive period. Luckily I have another 7 to choose from, but at first I thought my large HDD had gone down. I felt so sick at the thought of losing all my porn, mp3s and game ISOs (legal of course! ).

HD0087 hit the nail on the head. It's the thermal probe to my Digital Thermometer :-)
As for the Striker, HD was right again, I shouldn't of bought it. But I was hoping it
would work out.

Well I've got my system running at maximum effectiveness again :-)
Right now my spec's are:
Intel Core2Xtreme QX6850 @ 3.6 GHz (450x8)
EVGA 780i SLI
(2) x 1GB Crucial Ballistix PC2 8500
(2) x XFX 8800GTX
(2) x WD 80GB sata drives at Raid0 (Vista Home Premium)
(1) x Maxtor 250GB sata drive (Windows XP Pro)
(1) x Maxtor 250GB sata drive (Data)
Cooler Master Real Power Pro 1250w power supply
Sony 20x DVD/ROM
Samsung 16x DVD Burner
NEC Floppy Disk Drive
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme
Cooler Master Stacker Case

I just got the new EVGA 780i SLI mobo. I read a bunch of reviews on this mobo
and I already knew they ran hot so I modded the Northbridge cooling 1st thing.
So instead of using the supplied NB fan I attached a fan from a Athlon XP heatsink.
And I was surprised that there was a blank spot in the back panel/IO shield area
right at the other end of the heatpipe assembly. So I attached a 20x20mm fan at
that location. Gotta luv Tie Straps. So far my mod is working Great, my NB temps
hover in the 45-50dC range.
Here's a few pic's :-)

And with a little tweaking I've gotten a 3DMark06 score of 18977 :-)
