so its going to be a vhs vs betamax +1 war?
and it says its going to move the laser around the disk, then whats the point of having the disk? yes i realise for back combatible but still, thats like moving the world to travel somewhere... edit: or do they just angle the laser? but then accuracy becomes a problem, i would imagine, but the disk doesn't move, so then they must move the reciever? i dunno discussion?

I wouldn't be over zealous about this. I've been reading dailytech and anandtech for ages now and I've seen quite a few universities/organisations/businesses state that they can offer us increased media storage capability, but in reality very few, if any have came to fruition. I'll believe it when I see it.

don't sweat the blu-ray discs ! I have some here, like X-Men 3 , The Lake House , Stargate, Flyboys and some others, the reader is a PS3. It's blu-ray reading abilities are better than 2000 € panasonic ones. (the man who came to install the projector said that when passing the ice age 2 on the PS3.
It is really amazing for the audio and the video. We have here a 6 Mbits/s audio bandwidth and a 20 Mbits/s video bandwidth, playing in 1080p. So, it's not obligated to get a specific blu-ray reader to read blu-rays. HD-DVD's.......at least for the ones i've seen...they were bad. grainy, fuzzy image... Stargate in blu-ray is the exception, the image is a little bit grainy, but overrall, it's very impressive. So...as for conclusion, blu-rays are impressive, HD-DVD's a little less, but people, be a little objective, don't confuse the fact that you won't send 3000 $ in a blu-ray reader, and the real quality of the thing. the impossibility of affording something doesn't ean it's a shitty thing. Plus, buying a PS3 for 500$ and an HD-TV is a real investment, and a lot of people are getting that, so, no need for a 10000 $ rig to enjoy.
