MIT backroom boffins and boffinettes have worked out a way of wirelessly illuminating an unplugged light bulb from seven feet away.
The result, which is familiar to anyone who has seen the Adam's Family or read anything about Tesla, has been called "WiTricity". According to Science Express, the technique could one day be used to charge a laptop without plugging it in. Top boffin Marin Soljacic said the system uses a carefully designed magnetic field to deliver power to such devices from a range of 10 to 15 feet. More here

What makes me laugh is they dont tell you about the actual strength of the magnetic wave. Its like 'Hi, Here is our new WiTricityâ„¢, With FREE Cancer inducing, Bowel Rupturing Magnetic Wave Technology!". Charge your laptop up in minutes even from your hospital bed! :P

OK, I have a sonicare toothbrush That charges something like that. It has no metal contacts to charge the battery. There are also some internal medical devices, I believe, that use that technology to charge them up. up.
