I'd still like to see their actual scores with a link. If they don't
supply one then it's not trust worthy. If they set a world's record
they give us a link. Right now AMD/ATI is spending marketing
dollars and magazines are always on the take. Especially rags
with a PC name who cover more Gadgets than PC's.

Here's a whole new sope to those drivers.

Those scores seem fishy to me and I wouldn't believe them.

No, All previous reviews show that the 2900XT 1GB is not the mosty powerful card in Single-Card configurations. AMD say their performance part (Vs 8800GTX/Ultra) is their Crossfire Configuration. So to prove the point they made sure that the 2x1GB 2900XT CF with Catalyst 7.7 (July Drivers) was ran against the 2x 768MB 8800GTX on drivers dated April, where SLI wasn't running due to a problem with Vista!
Didn't Nvidia redraw their late June drivers because they had issues with open gl? That would explain why there were only April drivers to compare them to.

@Slaymate: the link is about XP drivers, what do those have to do with Vista performance?

Lol, I only posted this link for the fun of it and some small comments. I sure seem to have stepped on the small penises of some fanboys who feel really offended

I also think most reviews these days are way to focussed on just game results. Most people are also interested in the way they are able to decode movies, the noise the make and the energy they consume. Some of these aspects are included in some reviews but I wanna see comparative stats.

For example, I already figured out before I even heard of the 2400/8600 line that they won't be able to run Crysis at full, and I don't have particular interest in seeing that assumption confirmed. Since I was planning on replacing my 1950 pro from my normal pc (not to be confused with my other gaming pc, I am a rich bastard) with one of those cards using it for media purposes is way much more interesting. I'm gonna stay on my 1950 btw, waste of money to change it for a dx10 product that will add little or nothing to my pc or in the worst case degrade it.

Anyway, nice to see Kami making a "small" confession

here's a pic with some benchmark results underlining the bad sli performance:
Where, I don't see any SLI scores there?

They withdrew a BETA release, because of a major issue with the GL, but D3D worked like a charm. Oh and BTW you might like to read this Users told NOT to use Catalyst 7.7. Looks like AMD also release dodgy drivers now that they have another driver model to distribute.

Oh and you might want to check your original post. They clearly state the benchmarks were carried out in Vista and not XP.

For The Record. The April Nvidia tests were carried out in a Vista environment where a known Microsoft bug stopped dual-card configs running properly. The AMD Crossfire benchmarks were run on a fixed Vista environment, so the scores are way above what they would have been in April, regardless of driver revision.

-Is the rainwater getting in your brain there in England GM2? The Inquirer link is about the same useless test in XP, having it show up in the inquirer just degrades the credibility of tweak town as a reliable source. Everyone knows the Inquirer only made success by wild guesses and getting a small percentage right, sensation journalism is what that site is and highly untrustworthy.

-I am aware I said Vista in my first post and that's why the xp results are worthless, what's so weird about me saying that? I sure didn't make a mistake there, you just misread what I said.

-Weird, the picture I posted was SLI, don't know what changed, will correct when I find the picture I originally posted.

-On a serious note, how are you holding out there, you live in Southern England right? Heard drinking water is becoming a huge issue there and the financial damage is about 2 times the loss MS made on their xbox project so far. 10 billion that is. Serious crap for those peeps there with some mayor rivers there about to overflow at any time.

I am coping with the floods quite well. At the moment I have my servants scooping the water out of my carpark with spoons and I am having a dam installed that is made out of Polish immigrants. :P

Perhaps you should take your big ass computer case, take out the fans and blow the water away with that

Here in the Netherlands we use gay people for dams. We are the only country in the world that lets them get married so we have their names and adresses, and when the time comes they will be fish bait

Sidenote: before I get flamed by some dumbass who can't tell the difference between a joke and something real (it happened last time I made a gay comment). This is a joke. Everyone knows using gay people for dams is pointless, all holes in their bodies have already been punctured by a hard body part
