hi all, first post here...
just wondering, how many gamers out there are using cordless mice. i just found one (seems good quality) at a tag sale for a buck. i am wondering if there is a delay or other performance issues associated with cordless mice. maybe the delay is only in my head...
thanks.

I think it depends on several things: brand (and thus quality); connection type; stuff like wireless LAN routers near it; and how full the batteries are. Make sure it is not a ps/2 mouse, they are quite "slow". It has to be a USB 2.0 mouse, and preferably do not use a USB 1.1 connection (if your pc still has them). Make sure you have a mouse of a good brand, and regularly replace its batteries. And no other wireless devices may be able to "hinder" it.

Or be advised, and use a wired, compact mouse of Logitech. I am using such "compact mouses" since my teenage years on several systems, and still I like them extremely much. They are light, compact and really ergonomic; its performance during gaming is good as well. And last but not least: they cost you about 30 to 60 euros (I don't know that precisely). So they are quite cheap, compared to other mouses of the same quality! I think they are called "Logitech mini mouse optical".

thanks. mine is a microsoft wireless intelimouse explorer 2.0. pretty sure the usb ports are 2.0. i guess when the batteries start to go you'll notice significant lags....
not sure how old the mouse is, but it looks like quality and feels great.

Any wireless product will have an extra component to send/receive to/from (confusing isn't it?). That extra component will always lead to a number of milliseconds delay, the receiver that came with your mouse will do the same and will make your response in games slower then for example Richards wired version will. He has a direct line with no receiver interfering, so if both of you guys faced each other in Call of duty 2 online for example and shot at eachother at the exact same time he'd walk away with the kill since his delay would be less. A direct line always beats wireless line since it doesn't have to deal with another factor before it reaches your pc itself.

Basicly this means all wireless products are slower by default, only manufacturers want you to believe they can produce articles that can beat science and you'll see the idiots who believe that defending that slogan from time to time. The DPI (dots per inch) are also lower on your mouse then a good Logitech Mouse is, Microsoft mouses are aimed at home and professional users anyway and do a mediocre job at that too. Gamers should look at Razorhead or Logitech, Creative or companies like that.

I use a wired mouse, i just can't risk the delay, and the expensive batteries.

I like my MX Revolution, had another logitech one that worked well before it, but I didn't like replacing batteries
