I don't know much about comps and just want to know that what I buy will work on my system. It's an AMD Athlon 2400+ processor and the stock card it has now is 64 MB geforce 4. I'd like to know the upper range of cards that the processor will handle, and what brand it has to be. Thanks.

With your processor it's fair to assume you have an AGP slot. You should either get an Ati 1950 pro (around 150 euro's/dollars) or an Nvidia 7950 GT (215 euro's/dollars)
Prices may vary a bit depending on where you live. The 1950 has my preference, it's cheaper, has the same results. Still both cards are ok.

Those are some pretty high end cards. Are you sure they'll work with my comp.? :

Well you need to be careful. If your system interface is AGP then you need to find out of it is 4x or 8x compatible. If it is 8x compatible then you are laughing. Go ahead and get the x1950Pro. It is a very, very nice card for that price and it is compatible with most new games, including AFAIK Crysis. If however you have an AGP 4x compatible slot, then you need to find out what voltages it supports. If you don't know how to work this out then us more tech savvy guys here will be able to help you out.
Most 8x cards are 4x backwards compatible, however there may be a 'slight' loss in performance due to the restricted bandwidth of the 4x solution. Hope this helps!

Easiest thing to do would be to look at the type of mobo you have at bootup. A short screen there would tell you the name of the manufacturer and type of mobo, enter those in google and look at the specs. I think you could check the settings in your bios too, but it's been some time since I had an agp board, does seem logical though.
You can also find info on your mobo itself, typename etc but not the agp speed. EDIT: nice new sig you have there gm, but the flashing sign is annoying as fook. I don't have to visit the forums, I am already there I think. Great stuff as usual anyway
