Personally I don't like the idea of having to throw out a perfectly good OS just because the pc is junk! Plus, with MOST manufacturers, change a component that failed and you run the risk of not being able to re-install.
My sister had that problem. Her HDD died and her husband replaced it and now she can't re-install. That was learned AFTER she told them that she had to replace the HDD and needed the rescue disks. Since her husband didn't buy the exact same make, model and capacity drive it wasn't guaranteed to work. Then there is the guy that we bought our car from. His had a motherboard failure that took out his cpu as well. He bought a replacement that sisn;t come from the manufacturer. As soon as he installed it, it immediately said something about the copy of windows wasn't genuine or some such. So, personally, I find a better value in a full version. Besides, what they call an OEM version is more of a "rescue" kind or thing. It's like using Norton Ghost every time you need to re-install. Sometimes you just want to start with the bare OS and go from there. |

If I was spending my money to let CyperPower build me a PC I would go with this.
The Cooler Master Stacker Case is the best on the Market. I have one already :-) I also picked the EVGA 680i SLI mobo. I also have one. It's a Great Board. It has Realtek High-Definition Audio on board and with the Quad core CPU the xtra duty won't slow you down. I picked the Mushkin over the Corsair XMS even though I have Corsair XMS2 PC2 8500. I didn't see the 8500 offered. I went with the 8800 Ultra over the 8800 GTX. I also picked the 750w Quad SLI Power Supply incase you get a 2nd 8800 as they'll each need (2) power connectors. I also picked the Cooler Master HyperTX Heat Sink. I reviewed one over at HardwareHell, it's a good cooler for the price. Here's a link to my review. http://hardware.gamershell.com/articles/co...ypertx-heatsink The review has Soultrape's name on it, but I wrote it.They didn't update it when the site was revamped. I also increased the main drive to a 500GB Raid Array. My system price is lower and I bet it will smoke your pick's :-) ![]()

A good audiocard like the X-fi you had takes a lot of stress away from your cpu, gives better framerates and has better quality sound, a win/win situation. A shame that the importance of a good audiocard is way too often overlooked, it completes a system.
There's no denying that the Stacker is great, but I don't see the added value of changing to that instead of the Cosmos. Both have great results and the Cosmos looks way better in my opinion.

If you are using Vista a Xfi has no distinct advantage over on-board audio at present. A lot of what makes the addon board great is not supported in the Vista soundstack. A better bet would be to wait for the new boards to come out... which AFAIK is only a few weeks from announcement.

With the Quad core cpu you'll have plently of power to spare, so the
sound card relieving some of the cpu cycles (so to speak) isn't that big of a deal. And you can use speakers with the on-board sound. I do. The Stacker is the One Case to Rule Them All. You be glad you got it :-)

I don't get it, how is not taking full advantage of everything a pc has too offer a good thing? From that point of view we might as well not get a better cooler, a few more degrees in temperature isn't that bad right? Overclocking seems futile too then, why bother maximizing? With more software taking advantage of quadcore we don't have power to spare but performance to gain in my opinion.
*Not intended as a flame but as a real question, I just don't see why settling for less is a good thing.

Except fot the sound card I don't think I settled for anything less with
my picks. And the sound card issue is debatable. On-board sound is better than ever these days. And the sound card was always just an improvement on the cpu workload in most cases. With Quad core CPU's the xtra workload just isn't a viable issue anymore, in my opinion. The mobo I picked has built-in High Defintion sound. If you want a Sound card then pick one that is worth the xtra money, in my opinion.
