Do you need a mouse, but you don't have the money for a top-class gaming mouse? The optical "Mini mouse" from Logitech may be a good choice. It's performance is of course not like a gaming mouse of above 70 euros, but it is going quite well. They are ergonomic, cheap (about 15 euros) and last for years.

I love my Logitec Optical Mouse, it's only like 10 euro's now, is great in the hand, scrolls great(I use scroll for jumping in css, and knifing for cod4, so you'll know i use that alot).
I now use it together with steelpad glides and a Steelpad mousemat, works great

True. And there are some differences compared to the old days (when it was not yet optical). Its main advantage is that it is working on (almost) all OSses, so you are able to use the same mouse on your laptop, your gaming pc (if you're broke and can't afford a gaming mouse), your Linux system and even on your old Win '98 machine (to test whether your amateur game also runs on a low-end pc). A Mac is also posible.
Yet, it doesn't "feel' like a standard mouse IMHO.
