I've made a small setup for you
The setup is a mobo, processor, psu and videocard!

Komplett:
Asus P5K SE/EPU 78.00
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 145.00
Corsair 450W PSU 65.00
HIS Radeon HD4850 149.00

TOTAL: 437.00 Euro's

4Launch:
Asus P5K SE/EPU 69.50
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 136.00
Corsair 450W PSU 58.00
MSI HD4850 (Note this a more expensive one but it had HDCP so..) 153.50

TOTAL: 359.50 Euro's

So it seems 4launch is alot cheaper than komplett, except for the videocard!
So you should pick 4launch, I and some friends have alot of experience with them, RMA is done fast and easy, with track and trace. You can pick everything up in Eindhoven if you want, I did that!

Oh and if you want to know more or stuff you can always pm me or add me on msn: kthxdie[at]hush.com

And for mobo you should take this one:
Komplett.nl - Asus P5K SE/EPU, P35, Socket-775, DDR2, ATX, GbLAN, 1600MHz FSB, PCI-Ex16
Cheap, good, with the EPU it lets you save power costs, an option you will like

Btw it's 69,50 on 4launch.nl, a much better price ;)
That cpu may indeed be better, that mobo really looks good, though I may need a new case then (e.g. the one Gazz pointed to some weeks ago).
By the way, is pc8500 memory worth the additional costs, compared to pc6400? Myself I don't think so, though I would like to know your opinion.

Well PC2-8500 memory runs at 1066 fsb, together with my processor, though if you take a 8400 it'll be 1333 fsb, it may give a nice performance boost, but not by much, check up the prices and see if it's worth it!

Also for a case I recommend a Coolermaster CM690, nice stylish case, with some space, and only 60 euro's

lol, I just submitted my previous reply when you added this. Looks good, and if you think 450W will be enough then I will choose that one instead of a OCZ GameXstream.

And yes, 4launch is usuallly cheaper, though I didn't compare the prices that much since I was looking for a good setup first.

Thanks for your help, the only things I have to do (besides ordering) is checking whether it's better to buy a new case and making sure I got a Windows cd

Crucial is good memory and that set is really cheap! You should think of getting 4gig with those cheap prices!

I prefer Windows XP above Vista actually, so 4 GB won't work. So I think it will be that set, and may add a third module later.

You can always use XP X64, and why not make the switch? I did and i'm happy with it, with 3-4 (because the 4 doesn't always work ) it runs more stable than xp did for me!

My laptop runs Vista, and made it clear to me that is fun for multimedia, but simply terrible for a working pc (--> important fact for a student). And most games run better on XP then Vista, isn't it? And Vista has its minor annoyances that XP doesn't have. So I think it's better (for me at least) to run XP with 2 or 3 gig then Vista with 4.

Well I use this computer as a working pc too as I am a student myself too. And my work isn't only Photoshop,Indesign,Illustrator,3DSMAX and Illustrator, I type alot too, and with the quick window switching, the enhanced alt tab and with 4gigs of ram I can say I will not change this for XP. With the minor annoyances, just stop the UAC service and all your problems are gone, so no more pressing ok for 10 times just to install something. Also a laptop preinstalled with vista has bad performance, always reinstall immediately, first of all it's full of crap, and second of all it just run as great as a nice fresh installation, and if you still think it seems slow, you could always use some tweaks to speed up animations.

Anyways I use Vista Business X64, it has no Media center like ultimate but I like it this way, with all the backup options etc. I got it free with my MSDNAA (Microsoft Developer Net Academic Alliance), Basically just MSDN for students, saves some costs and I have everything I want (XP, Vista, Visual 2008, Server 2008, Exchange 2008, Office 2008)
