Pc not booting - WEIRD!?
Hey there guys,
having my pc for a long time, but since short my pc doesn't want to boot at times. The PC starts normally, all the fans start spinning, and they keep spinning, as if everything's working but my pc just doesn't want to POST. But it's really random, the one day it will boot and the other day it will not...
Oh and this was already before I plugged in 4gb so that shouldn't be the problem.
My bios has been flashed to 0901 (Latest non-beta version) without any problems and the bios seems just fine!
It's really irritating me because I do alot on my pc and have clients, don't want them to wait longer because of this, if someone can find an answer to this it'll spare me rma'ing this stupid ASUS board which will take me another 1-2 weeks...
The mobo is a P5N-E SLI

I'm getting the feeling this has to do with the bad support of my memory, which is just plain horrible. Because of that i'm thinking of getting a P5K SE/EPU, is about 50 cents cheaper than this one..
Is it possible that if I Rma this one I can get another model (the P5K SE/EPU) Which is in fact 50 cents cheaper?

Try memtest86. Hard to say what it is. Could be the mobo, could be the PSU, etc :S

More than likely PSU or VDIMM not set correctly. Try incrementing that and using a different PSU with better current ratings.

It can be the BIOS flash (I think), the memory and the psu. Though afaik you got a psu from Zalman (you once told me I believe), so that would be a bit weird.
I had it once too, but that issue seemed to have solved itself (the onlly thing it 's doing sometimes is getting out of standby mode automatically).

I have a Zalman 600W PSU that works great, the voltages are fine!
I have my VDimm set to 2.085v, most stable setting i could get with my ram, and with the settings now I don't bsod all the time like with windows XP, but that was half a driver issue...
I have run memtest86+ on all my ram sticks without any problems, I had to rma old ones which were broken, but the new ones work great...
Anyways I got to boot again with only 2 sticks in my pc instead of all 4, which is really weird because I do boot with all 4 in them....
Anyways can I Rma for another type board, I really want that Asus P5K SE/EPU..

That is something you have to ask the company at which you bought it, I suppose

Try increasing the command rate in the BIOS. If it's 1T that might be why

I have the Command rate set to 2T, because that's the stable setting with this memory. Also I sent in a form at Asus, hoping for an answer..
Though it should be a halfassed answer like any big company would give.
Also is it possible that Gamershell hosts driverstuff from asus? I'm really getting sick of the fact that i have to download from their servers with 12kbps and the server resetting all the time..
