First CPU build, AMD or Intel. Help!

For me AMD is the best for gaming. It was tested by many professionals that AMD is better in gaming rather than Intel. But when it comes to software applications Intel is the leading brand. I have read some articles and books about this one.

my question is . why do you want vista ? if i were you i would go XP untill windows 7 comes out unless you have something you need vista for . I have vista on my new laptop and i had to litterly mod the crap out of it just so i could make it run the way i want it too and i regret not getting xp on it ..good luck !!

i would go with the intel build. (maybe amd IF you were setting it up for the phenom II, simply because it is made to run with ati, and im with the earlier post, spend alittle more but get the 4890. PowerColor makes an oC'd one at 950mhz stock. EDIT: also the 9950 is a last gen cpu, if you want the AM2+ socket go with the Denub phenom II. but from what i have seen recently the i7 is MUCH more stable in overclocking at home. Not to mention if you choose nVidia later, the i7 chipset supports both sLI and xFire, big bonus.
