Default Computer advice for sims 3

Hey guys, I'm super new here so I really apologize if this is like...not what this board is for or not what you guys are here for. anyways. I need a new computer, primarily for internet, college work and the sims 3. I'm looking at the XPS series from Dell (only if I can get the no interest for 12 months credit card), I'd like to keep it around1000 dollars, any suggestions? Maybe the xps 420? Or would it be better to do an alienware Aurora? Is the 512mb video card neccessary for the sims 3 or just suggested to make it look nice?
I also found a Dell - Studio MT Desktop with Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q8200 at bestbuy for 750 dollars with these specs:
Processor
Intel® Core™2 Quad
Processor Speed
2.33GHz
Cache Memory
6MB on die level 2
System Memory (RAM)
6GB
System Memory (RAM) Expandable To
8GB
Type of Memory (RAM)
DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive Type
SATA (7200 rpm)
Hard Drive Size
750GB
Graphics
ATI RADEON 3450
Video Memory
256MB

Sims 3 specs are here:
Desktop
CPU: Pentium IV 2.0 GHz, Athlon XP 2000+ (XP) // Pentium IV 2.4 GHz, Athlon XP 2400+ (Vista)
RAM: 1.0 GB (XP) // 1.5 GB (Vista)
Graphics: GeForce FX 5900, Radeon 9500 (XP and Vista)
Video RAM: 128 MB (XP and Vista)

So what to do? xps? alienware? Dell studio mt desktop?
thank you all so much!

Can you give us a direct link to each of the systems your looking at?

This system would do all your wanting.

The 1st two systems you linked are AMD systems, avoid them. The Dell has a Core 2 Duo which is good, but the video sucks. The Alienware I linked you to is the best of the bunch

The standard should be good. They want way to much money for the upgrade options offered. If you know anyone that is mildly knowledgable they should be able to help you upgrade later done the road, at 1/2 the price, if needed.

Your Computer must be at least a Core-2-Duo 2.0Ghz or higher, 2 or 4 GB RAM, a good quality video card or graphics card with at least 512MB non-shared Memory by Ati or nVidia, with a good quality monitor, screen or TV. Look at the system specs on the side of newly released game and you wont go far wrong when building a quality gaming computer, to get the experience out of your computer games.
