DO you guys have any clue as to why my dvd drive wont load anything? It opens and closes and it recognizes what cd is in the drive, it just wont load it up. I connected everything right. Could my new motherboard not be compatible with the DVD drive? My new motherboard is a Gigabyte LGA775 and the drive is a Memorex 16X dvd drive.

Yeah I own the game. I guess I'll have to get another dvd drive. This one was pretty new though, not even a year old.

I used both the old IDE cable and then the new cable that came with the mobo. No difference. The drive has a power cable and the data cable. That's all I need right? I didnt hook up the audio cable or anything.

it may be a bad drive. is it new?

dvd drives have two lasers of different wavelengths, one for dvds and one for cds. maybe one of them is screwed up. if its a game on a dvd, try a cd and see if it loads w/e is on it.

So I got my new dvd drive ( $19.99 from newegg.com, free shipping as well! ) and Installed it. It fixed my problem, it loads things super fast and works like a charm. It's still a mystery as to why my old dvd drive broke. It was expensive too so that sucks.

It's the nature of the beast. It gets hungry and demands food, or in this case, money
