I temporarily put my speeds on stock again. Will try to OC again later, but test each step in a game instead of the Catalyst Control Center. It seems I can not rely on it's verdict "passed".

The Flashes you saw were from 2 high of an overclock.
Try using ATi Tool to pre-test your overclock. You'll still need to test it in-game or with a benchmark like futuremark 3DMark06 but it will help you get it close ATi Tool 0.27 b2 download from Guru3D.com
Edit: My card has appeared to be not supported, so I will either look for a different tool or use Catalyst again (but test each step in-game or with a benhmark instead of Catalyst).

Reason: merged two posts
Testing in 3DMark06 gave results that were to positive about high clock speeds. There I could get above 690/1130, but the Devil May Cry 4 benchmark and in-game testing in Far Cry 2 prove that that was too much.
I think I found the right value for the @load-clockspeeds: 655/1085. Unless flaws appear in games, I will leave the maximum speeds in Catalyst on this value. So the range will be 500/750 - 655/1085 instead of 500/750 - 625/993.
