What linux distro are you using? Nice MTBF you got there in case of windows 7, way higher than I expected of the RC

(lol thank you, I am running Ubuntu 9.04) and yeah, 7 really is a nice OS so far, still not free, but I like it, and it's backwards compatibility is really nice in comparison to the fluke that is Vista lol

Do you experience an decreased performance of your graphics card as well in Ubuntu? That is, asuming you are using the official drivers and have de desktop effects on. My 4850 only has a reasonable performance with the desktop effects turned off (in Ubuntu, that is. Works perfect in XP sp2).

lol, im always having problems with ATI cards in linux. The driver support is awful, and there aren't many 3rd party drivers for the 4800series cards for some reason.

How ever i don't loose complete power, like, I can run compiz and all effects turned on, however, I can not run compiz and wine-steam. Which drivers are you using?

EDIT: I was just reading, not to contradict myself, I am actually at work at the moment, but, it looks like the new drivers should be a hell of alot better in the Linux section.

I am not at my student room currently (at my parents this month), so I cannot check. What I remember is adding another software source, but I have to check that pc to get the details (I don't remember them).
