I seek US and UK online hardware retailers
Due to the high value of the Euro, shopping for new pc parts abroad is now well worth it. Anyone have any suggestions for me?
I am not sure on what to get yet other then the Amd 5850 or the Nvidia equivelant. All other parts are open to special discount prices

I think Newegg doesn't ship abroad, and if it does it will do so at high prices. So why not condidering the UK version of Komplett? (Komplett.co.uk)
However, the Duth branch of that e-tailer asks relatively high prices so I doubt that you will save if you order it at the UK branch.
And keep in mind that the Linux drivers of AMD cards are a pain in the arse. The only distro so far in which I managed to get it installed properly was in Ubuntu, though the performance is still hopeless. Compiz desktop effects are not well-combinable with HQ or HD video, because the video will "lag" horriblythen. Even if you leave the things like the skydome off and only use stuff like window previews, transparancy and wobbly windows. So you got to leave the desktop effects off to get it right. And afaik, Mandriva 2009 autoselects the open source driver (just like openSUSE does) and thus you won't have any 3D accelaration at all. In such a case, I hope you are as not as dumb as I was when trying to replace the open driver (in openSUSE) with the propietary one. Because the odds are huge, that you will kill your DE, forcing you to stare happily at a CLI. Even though the terminal/Konsole/whatever-Mandriva-calls-it can be handy, losing any way of using your mouse and seeing any windows is probably a bridge too far.
I should think twice before considering an AMD graphics card, unless your Mandriva "working OS" is installed on a different pc than your gaming machine.

Newegg all the way. They don't directly ship to other countries but ask a friend that lives there to help.
Few years ago NXS helped me out and he didn't even ask anything in return.. all tho I over shot my budget a bit he should have been left with around 400$ of beer money.
Oh and If ya go thru with this ask your friend to remark the total value to the most expensive item ya have for insurance issues. If you but their real value in there ya endup paying ALOT more for taxes. I was fined with 800€ just to cover valuetax and 120€ or something for toll and crap.
Incase something is broke youll atleast be clad you insured the most expensive item.

Hmmz, ok. Thanks for the info.
@Richard: I currently run the Mandriva 2010 one RC2. Running that one on a AMD 1950 pro with no issues. Did have a million in the first beta of 2010 though, but Iĺl spare you the long story. It was beta trouble afterall

Here are some good UK retailers
Scan - Computer Hardware - All - Scan.co.uk
Ebuyer - Cheap Laptops, Hard Drives, LCD Monitors, TVs, Televisions and more at Ebuyer.com
Dabs - dabs.com - Laptops, Components, MP3 players, Software, Digital Cameras
Aria PC - Aria PC - Computer Hardware, Components, Monitors.. at lowest prices
Overclockers UK - Overclockers UK
Misco - Misco.co.uk - Computer Hardware, Laptops, Notebooks, Desktops, TFTs, Printers, Servers, Wireless Networking, Software
NovaTech - Computer Supplies and PC Components from Novatech
MicroDirect - Microdirect.co.uk is the UK leading retailer of quality computer components and electronics
If you want, I can order your parts from NewEgg and ship them to you. But then we have to pay for shipping to me then back to you. And it will take longer because of the extra travel time.

With what driver? Don't forget the issues are starting from a certain series and later (including, but not limited to, my HD 4850).
