Direct X

The newest Direct X is the version 9.0c for Windows XP/2000 and 9x which is out now for a while and needed for several new games (i.e. Sims 2). Windows Vista comes out of the box with DirectX 10 so you do not neet this section if you use Windows Vista.

If you get a message after a game installation that you need Direct X, look for it on the Main CD of the game. Usually it's there.

Alternatively you can download it off of Microsoft at this downloadpage (english).
It is said though that this is an Internet Installer so it may be not too handy on a low internet connection.
