When I play The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay it runs smooth and all but after an hour or so, the computer reboots without any prompt or warnings or anything :bucky!:
so I was thinking maybe my PSU isn't enough (250W) but the 3.3v = 3.280v and 5v = 5.050v. as far as I know, that means everything's OK at the power supply-side... every other game works just as normal... |

What kind of video card do you have? If you have a 6800 , gt , or ulltra. Then there are problems with that game if you have a 6800, Guess you are going to have to wait for a patch or something i dunno.

I agree. I have an Ultra and i will not overclock with anything less than 500w, come to think of it, the specs info states you must have a 500w+ to run an Ultra at all
To the point then :Oo: Componants are eating more and more power, so buy a heavy duty PSU and be sure  |

Thats not hot for a CPU at all, especially an AMD Athlon XP. Is a different case for a pentium setup though, they tend to run 20 degrees less on stock coolers. However, rebooting maybe down to the GPU pulling too much work off the PSU so that the rest of the system falls over.
I am surprised you haven't ntoiced this before, because I needed a 350W PSU when I had an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ and a Geforce 4Ti a couple of years ago! Anyways, good luck finding out the problem m8. |

its very simple, the hotter your system the more power it consumes:
a microwave or hairdryer easily hits 1200 Watts, so: A desktop comp @ work: at least a 250 Watt PSU A low range gaming comp: at least a 300 WattPSU A Mid range comp (9800 XT, 6600 ..) a 350 or 400 Watt PSU minimum A Highrange comp (6800 GT/Ultra) a 450 or 480 watt PSU minimum A Superrange comp (SLi Tech) a 550 watt minimum And be sure to have a Enermax, Thermaltake, Zalman etc PSU and besides does the CPU run @ 52 C in windows or ingame, when you shut a game down the temperature easily lowers 10 to 20 degrees in a matter of a second, so the temp may reach the max threshold when you're in a game

I think i have a solution for you! I have had the same kind of problem, and the crashes came more often after some hours of playing. I noticed that the game started to reboot my computer from exactly the same spot in the game after a while. After that happened 4 times, i got in to the game directory and deleted all old saves...now it´s running again. Probably the gamesaves eats memory. Thats the only explanasion i have for it.
Try my tip and good luck to you! kerbo |
