so I ran 3dmark05 demo with my 2200+ processor and came up with a score of 2940

I upgraded my cpu to a 3000+ and still got the same score

does anyone know whats happening here?

9800xt gfx card (8x)
1 gb 2700 ddr
asus 333 mb, 4x agp slot

I think the 3dmark 05 is very gfx demanding and it doesn't really matter on what cpu you have.
Try finding some cpu benchmarks of 3dmark.

Yeah I agree, your score is due to the performance of your GPU.

Since 3dmark 2003, that the tests have been made, kinda cpu "independent".

3Dmark 2001 was to dependent of the CPU!
