the sony would probably be my choice. on the other hand, anything 15¨ is poo for gaming because of the size, so instead of going tft i'd get a high quality 17¨ crt, or save up more money and get something even better - like a samsung 19¨ crt.

Remember that a 17" tft is about the size of a 19" crt.
Go for the "classic" monitors, you'll save some cash, an save yourself the image quality problems. I had a chance to sit in front of a "top of the line" 17" 16ms NEC tft, but you can still feel that something's wrong. And I really couldn't stand paying so much for buying obsolete technology

I have a 17inch viewable NEC CRT, one of the nicer NEC's. I have had no problems with it and have loved it over my family's 16inch viewable dell flatpanel. Flatpanels arent even comparable to CRT's. The picture quality and response time in a CRT is much faster. Who needs to spend 200-500 extra dollars just to get a smaller monitor that is on a desk!!. Either way, monitors are rarely moved, so why not get a huge tank?

Seems Jdub22 posted a nice link. You cannot go wrong with that crt for the money.
It seems to fit your price range. look here also; LOW I do not know if low is a good company-I live in the USA.
