I sold my 9800 pro over a week ago and still hav'nt done as intended"order x800xt p.e"
As Sepht pointed out a couple of days ago the agp x850xt.p.e version is out and due to hit retailers soon. Thing is i dont think i can wait much longer without a definate release date plus my rig is melting this stinking gforce2 32mb into the ground I've been looking at the x800xt.p.e's and dont understand why the powercolor versions are so much cheaper than say the saphire, asus, msi, gigabyte infact every other x800xt.p.e manufacturer...anybody? I've got my eye on this Powercolor X800XT.P.E Can someone explain why the powercolor versions are £45 cheaper than sayMSI X800XT.P.E from the same website? Its the same score with all the brands, powercolor=cheaper. I know about manufacturers using cheaper parts, components, memory, heatsinks, etc which knocks the retail price lower from competing brands is this the case with the powercolor? What would you do? Stay clear from powercolor, stop being tight, and pay the extra £45 for the asus or msi? OR wait that bit longer for the agp x850xt.p.e.to hit my retailer? Cheers! BTW.............should this be in the help section ? |

Why does a Sony TV cost more than a, lets say, dubenheimer TV?
It's the name and what stands behind it. I gladly pay the extra 50-100 bucks more for the HIS Ice Q because I think it's well worth it. it all depense on you in the end if you like to spend the extra bucks for the extra whatever. Now, what's the meaning of life?

BUT surely whatever brand a x800xt.p.e should perform and play as equal as the next x800xt.p.e? Sony and dubenheimer tv's are different syles and architecture where as the x800xt's on a whole are the same..arnt they? Sure i can see your point 2 the point that you've made my mind up.... I'll be leaving the powercolor on the shelve. I think i needed a bit of push in the right direction"to hold back untill i have the readys for a better brand" I'll have to wait*patience wearing thin*another week until i can afford the extra £'s for a mmmm hav'nt made my mind up yet......but not a powercolor Cheers. |

It's still the same chipset so it really doesn't matter but the difference may be in the cooling and what kind of software you get with it. Hope this helps

There are other factors to why one is so much cheaper than the other
Production environment, quality of parts used to build them, packaging, bundled software, the list goes on Basically, you get what you pay for. Buy a cheap ass card and watch it break down on yer ![]() |

When i took arrival of my av8 rev2 mobo on unpacking it i realised it was a rev x1 I soon rma'ed it and took delivery of a shiny new a8v rev2. On building my rig the mobo would'nt fire up....it was dead? My problem was soon sorted with a replacement and a 15% refund with the new"3rd"a8v being rock solid since. The moral of the storey is you dont always get what you pay for.......and....dont buy a a8v mobo. Any how back on track, I would'nt call a £310 x800xt.p.e. a cheap ass grfx card? I'd call it extortionate just not as extortionate as the £355 x800xt.p.e. unless im the only peep who aint rich round here*doubtful* ![]() |
