With the help of the people on this forum, I recently purchased an nVidia GeForce 6600 GT 128mb AGP (Made by GigaByte) and have installed it myself.
I installed the display drivers and the latest DirectX, and plugged the internal power cable into the card, but for some reason EVERY time I play CSS it just JAMS and the voice repeats and repeats.., for example I was just in an in office server and was rescuing the hostages and then everything jammed and I heard "Lets get out of here, of here, of here, of here, of here, of here, of here". Why does it do this? It is even on the RECOMMENDED video settings but still happens when I put it on low (Which i SHOULDNT have to since I bought the card for better graphical quality) Any thoughts? |

this is a RAM problem, you ask for too much to your graphics card and your cpu/ram can't give it.
OR: reistall the drivers (only whql certified!) for example the 70.90 version is very stable and optimises very well. Press ctrl+alt+suppr, and delete all the processes that are taking you processor power then do a complete system registry check up and free some ram with for example "freeram xp pro". donc ask for too much details in game at the beginning. If with i said the game runs smooth, then try to raise the detail level (with my 6800gt agp 8x, i play it all settings highest and 6xAA 16XAF plus 4x AA on the desktop and get 75 fps on average with 1Gig ram and a p4HT 2.8Ghz) the antialiasing comes after to polish the image , and the anisotropic filter gives you detailed textures more and more far. Tell us when you've done all this and i hope i helped a bit

Yes.
If a game crashes, that doesn't have to mean it's caused by the videocard.
