If you don't know, i had a problem before which i have now fixed :thumbup:

the only problem left is, my DVD-rom drive is showing as a hard disk device in stead of a removable storage dievice

this is driving me mad, so any help would be cool

hmm, smells like something's up with the aspi drivers. look up the manufacturer's website and see if they have any downloads, though i doubt it.

is the drive detected by for instance nero, or other apps?

try putting it in a different ide channel, just for kicks.

try googling for general aspi drivers - preferably some that aren't ancient

Yeah, as expected, only a fireware update, which i'm not sure about

The drive is detected by Nero etc... i even burnt a DVD backup to see if it worked ok

I haven't moved the drive at all, so i can't see that moving it onto another IDE channel will help, but i will have a go ait anyway, just in case of anomolies :thumbup:
