i need a new graphics card

i need a one thats not too expensive coz i dont have a job and i dont have a lot of cash

i have in total

£166

but i could borrow some if necessary

any suggestions ??

In june ATi will intorduce the R520 (or is it R2D2?) with 24 piper with estimated
retail price of 500-650 €. So you might wanna wait a couple of months and get
a now 500€ card for 300or so. I gonna get the R532 (or is it C3PO?) at the end
of the year when it's release anway...

PS: if it's true what ATi said then it's the first time that the leap of the follow up is 50%.
ATi even goes so far and says the R567 chipped cards are twice (100%...yeah, welcome
digital orgasm land) as powerfull as the X850XT PE. We all know they talking trash but I
wanna believe.

All wrong kami.... R520 wont come out til fall or something and i think they will do a 32 pipelines and around 300 million transistors.

But for now I would go for a 6600gt, great performance i see for low budget.

If you do get a 6600gt go for the Leadtek A6600gt, i saw that that was the best out of most of the 6600gt's.

So kami you are poopid. :P

i would go an 6600GT also. however, an 6800 series is a better choice, wait some time and get one of those.

I know the R520 comes out at the end of the year. That's why I wrote I'll get it at
the endd of the year. But in a month ATi will introduce it...meaning showing off it's
awesome powers with prerendered clips and tell people that's real time.

Still beats the Nvidea presentation where the guy is not even touching the mouse

Get a 6800Gt or x800Xl minimum.
If you go cheaper than that, your gonna regret it soon enough.

As I said I would wait for the end of the year (half of it is already gone anyway) when the new cards come out and you get the good cheaper.

the only regret i have on my 9800 pro is that it's 128mb and i have to play HL2 on medium textures to run everything else high with 2XAA and 8X anisotropic at 1280x1024
on high textures my fps starts going under Vsync and i get stutters on turning corners

256mb9800pro, if bought online, is like 150$ USD, used is like 120 or less! i bought a refurbished 128mb 9800 pro right after Christmas for 160- USD

and yes, I do regret it... just a LITTLE bit, 50$ more would have gotten me the 256mb... or a 6600GT
but damn, under 200USD you might even be able to get a 9800XT, or a 6800NU
