Small review on Lunia

This is a very small review, no comment on the size 'bout it please ;)

I found out about this game thanks to a friend, it looked really fun to play. The features in this game are really original to say the least. Instead of clicking about in some big world you'll be using the arrows and the attack buttons to move around in missions with a party. The gameplay sorta reminded me of Secret Of Mana, which i am a really big fan of, so i was eager to try it. Registering and Downloading went all fine, the official mirror was plenty fast enough to give me 800KBps. The game was installed all fine and i was ready to go.

Creation of your chars was pretty easy but left you with no customization next to your nickname. You can choose between 3 characters in the game, one being a warrior, the other a mage, and the last a priest. Pretty basic jobs actually.
First thing i noticed was the low fps when trying to play it, looking in the options i had good enough specs to run it normally but it wouldn't, so i had to set it back to medium, the game not being graphics heavy at all. I didn't notice any difference between both the "High End" and the "Medium" settings actually, though it did improve the fps by alot. Making it playable!

When i finally got ingame, i started at "The Square", a place to buy/sell items, make teams, talk to people, get quests. Not much to do next to that.
First thing i noticed the game was really laggy, almost all the time i got set back after a few steps, this is just really irritating, but i could live with it.

After pressing the button to start a mission, i chose the appropriate mission and got joined into a game with some other people.
Mission got loaded and i got served with a nice anime-based movie, which supports the storyline of the game.
Skipping it was no problem and you wouldn't have to wait for someone else to skip it (like for example in Guild Wars).
First thing i noticed was that the lag was still in the game, i was hoping this was only in the busy squares.


The gameplay consists of hitting people with either your weapon or skills. The normal assigned button for Attacking was "A", next to that there was the "S" button, the special attack. The special attack either was a attack to down an enemy (Knight), Recover your mana (Mage) or Shoot a spell (Priest). Whenever you finished up a combo on an enemy as either the priest or the wizard you could use "SPACEBAR" for using a speciall attack on a downed enemy, giving alot more damage but could be done only once per person while the enemy is down. Next to that you could use the numeric keys for spells or skills.

As i advanced, the gameplay got really repetitive, only consisting of buttonmashing the attack button or spamming spells. Mix that with the sometimes weird lag making you hang between a boulder when you were trying to run away from it, or not getting the item you ran over 1000 times. Next to that the irritating movies that cameby while in a mission, moving your screen somewhere else, with still the risk of being attacked by a monster because the game doesn't pause.

Conclusion:

Although Lunia offers fun to play gameplay, it still isn't fun after a short time. This mainly happening by the repetitive gameplay and the extreme horrible lag you get while playing.
The game looks half finished with bad translations and weird lag bugs.
There aren't much alternatives, but Lunia isn't really worth recommending!
