DragonSky Player Review
By: BlkPanda

Another day, another MMO. What's on the front burner this time? Well its a little diamond in the rough called DragonSky. DragonSky (also known as DS or DSK) devoloped by SonoV, is a brilliant Martial Arts based MMORPG, borrowing basic MMO mechanics we know and love with a Dynasty Warriors type of gameplay flair. Best of all its Free To Play, published internationally by one of the largest publishers Aeria Games & Entertainment.

General: The game is currently in Open Beta, planned to go live soon. DragonSky is a Faction VS Faction game, with the two sides being Tigers and Dragons, bitter rivals for reasons unknown, as it has been that was for the ages. There are Faction battles at given times to secure who is best, or who at least brought their A game with them. There are no set classes just Weapons and Skills to master. Theres a personal manufacturing system in-game as well as NPC manufacturing. There's also, a intuitive upgrade system for upgrading that rare weapon you got or that rare armor you bought.

The System Requirements are:

Minimum:
OS: Windows (R) XP/2000 (Windows Vista not officially supported. Operation on 64bit edition not guaranteed)
CPU: Pentium III 800mhz
Memory: 512 Mb
Hard Drive: 3 Gb free hard-drive space
Video: GeForce FX 5200 or Radeon 7600 64mb
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c Compatible sound card
Network: Broadband Internet Connnection

Recommended:
OS: Windows (R) XP/2000 (Windows Vista not officially supported. Operation on 64bit edition not guaranteed)
CPU: Pentium IV 2.0 ghz
Memory: 1 Gb
Hard Drive: 3 Gb free hard-drive space
Video: GeForce FX 5600 or Radeon 9550 128mb
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c Compatible sound card
Network: Broadband Internet Connnection

Now lets get to frying this game up and serving it you on a silver platter.

Graphics: As far as F2P graphics go this definitely in the upper levels on quality. The minimum requirements for the game are very user friendly, but the game can look quite nicely on a higher end system as well. Its appealing for all systems of the current and recent computer market.
Graphics score: 7/10

Gameplay: THIS IS DRAGONSKY! You grind, you quest, you pray for rare drops. The gameplay mechanics resemble that of the Dynasty Warriors franchise, very fluid and at times, over the top combos. You have your MMO basics here too, you got buffs for attack and defense, you have your de-buffs, and you have your heals.

Gameplay Score: 8/10

Leveling: In a newer approach to the leveling in this genre is the introduction of 2 sets of levels. You have you Dan level, your physical level and you have your Soul level, your mental or spirit level. Its the combination of these 2 types of levels that allow you to acquire skills and martial arts, though martial arts take something extra, which i'll get into in the next part of this review. Back to the Levels though, Your Dan level is increased by killing monsters. Your Soul level on the other hand is increased by meditating and doing quests.
Leveling(Grind) Score: 8/10

Skills and Weapons: In Dragon Sky there are no classes however there are 4 different types of weapons: Fist, Sword, Spear, Hammer/Pendulum. To learn how to be a martial art master you need to practice, thats where V.P comes in. Not only do learning martial arts take; getting the book, being the appropriate level, having the prerequisites and of course the money, V.P comes in and says you need X amount of it to learn this book. What is V.P? V.P or Victory Points come from monsters you kill, 1 monster = 1 V.P. The skills are: Attack based, Defense based, Recovery based, and Collection/Extra Skills. This is where Soul level comes in, but when you see the skill to be purchased you'll notice something, it doesn't say what level Soul you need for it, well theres the kicker, you'll notice a stat called Focus. Now you're thinking what's Focus? focus is what you get for leveling your Soul, you get a set amount of Focus for every level of Soul you attain and also based on what level you attain. For just the uniqueness of this skill and weapons system I feel this game has, just gives it that special something that makes it a thrill to play. But I shall throw in a cryptic message here, A Jack of all Trades, is a Master of None.
Skills and Weapons: 10/10

PvP: Now this is where it gets good, this is the whole reason you've been grinding. To whoop the other faction into a corner crying and wishing that that bad people wont hurt them anymore. PVP on here is all about tactics and unbalancing things into your favor. With that said, let me break down how this weapon system works for PvP:
Fist > Pendulum
Pendulum > Spear
Spear > Sword
Sword > Fist

Now dont go thinking just because you have a Sword you can take down a Fist user no problem, thats where Martial Arts come into play, if you have the level 2 book of your Sword Art while the fist user has the level 5 book for their Fist Art, you're going to run into some problems. Thats where skills come in, buffs,de-buffs and heals can turn a battle back into your favor when 1 on 1. As for Faction and Guild PVP its comes to teamwork and skills plus knowing what weapons defeat what. Guild Vs Guild id just like any other Guild vs Guild PVP out there.

Faction Vs Faction is Fantastic. It's not just a brawl of massive proportions, theres objectives to complete, there guard beasts to get through, theres just... so much fun in these battles. The max players that can be on the map is 200, 100 max for each side. there are also 3 brackets for the battlefields, Level 40 - 69 is the 1st, 70 - 99 is the 2nd, and 100 - 120 is the 3rd and final battleground.

PVP is what puts the spark into the leveling in this game, it drives you to get to higher levels to keep from being beat or to finally get the revenge you've always wanted.

PvP Score: 10/10

Refine System/ Collection System: The refine system in Dragon Sky is very well made as there are 4 types of items, Whites(Common), Green(Rare), Blue(Magical), Pink(Unique). To refine any item you need mystic stones for weapons and embroidery for clothing which can be either aquired from collection like mining and harvest or from colored drops items (Green,Blue, Pink) and then proceeding to smash them for refine items.
Refine System/ Collection System Score: 7/10

Overall Score: 8.3

Now goto Dragon Sky - Free Fantasy MMORPG at Aeria Games, Create an acount if you don't already have one, download this game, and play one of the best F2P mmo's out there! And start you path to being the true martial art master.
