A extremely loyal fan of MS's 360 had to return his launch console after dying on him. Nothing strange about that of course, but the chap had collected several signatures of the Halo and 360 team on his console. Like I said, he's a extremely big and loyal fan of his 360, click the link to continue reading up on what happened to the poor fellow.
Another Gamer Screwed by Microsoft Hawty McBloggy Invites You to Play I personally completely disagree with the road the 360 takes and think that people who bought it shouldn't whine if it breaks down. However, even I feel really sorry for this guy who clearly believes in his console.

Well i wouldn't blame the guy who erased it all. Rather it would be microsoft with the poor communication about the signatures on it.
Or the guy that erased it was a sick bastard..

There is no excuse here. I give two shits what the repair cerner's policies are about cleaning the equipment, etc. It was obvious that the writing and artwork was there ON PURPOSE!
If it was me, I would find a way to put a monetary value to the signatures and picture. Something like the cost of the trips I had to take to gain the sigs and drawing, etc. Then file a lawsuit. Those people need to be hit in the pocket hard. Although, if it was my case, I would have had it clearcoated or something to help preserve the ink! |

When i got mine repaired it only took about a week, really great service... but the fact that it still died so fast is kinda lame.

Poor chap. Though he should have been realising, that enclosing a letter doesn't help if it is that long. A short, polite letter saying that the console should not be cleaned, would have been better. Though I cannot imagine that it was unclear that the sigs and drawings were there on purpose.

I expect that cleaning the shell of the console is a policy at the repair shop, but that particular case was a bit obvious. Anyone with more that two brain cells should have known that it was supposed to be there and leave it alone! |
