Beefeaters
Now, before I start, I know that in this day and age, sexism should be something we should not have to deal with. Women are just as good as men and can do anything a man can do. Blah, blah, blah.
I vaguely have heard of the beefeaters. I have heard of them though. Apparently, it has been a men only club for a long time. Here is a little clip from the Yahoo! news post:
"At issue is the alleged bullying of a contemporary trailblazer: Moira Cameron, the first woman to serve as yeoman warder at the Tower, which dates back to the 11th century.
Hers was supposed to be a happy story about how one of the traditional bastions of male supremacy became a place where women, too, could serve queen and country. But it now appears Cameron, 44, was isolated and harassed by resentful male colleagues, despite her long experience in the military.
Embarrassed Tower officials said Monday that two male warders have been suspended and a third is under investigation for suspected harassment of Cameron, who joined the prestigious warders two years ago, integrating what had been an all-male preserve for centuries."
I know I am going to catch hell for this but, I am going to have to side with the guys on this one. I don't give a damn what the woman has done! If it has been a mens only, basically club, for this long, why rock the boat?
I am not being sexist here. I just think that there should be places, whether it be a club or work place, that men can congregate at without being looked at as queer.
There are TV stations that cater to different races and sexes and I don't see why a workplace should be any different.
Does anyone bitch about the Lifetime network constantly portraying men in a bad light? Hell no! You have the BET channel that caters to black ppl. Does any white person say anything about that. Of course not! ABC caters to old ppl. Do you see any young person bitching about that. NOOOOO!
Sometimes, it is just best to leave well enough alone.

I find it odd that all the way through your rant you make no reference to the location of this subject. Even as an Englishman it took me a minute to discern what the hell you were talking about! Here's a link if anyone's interested.
So you are basically arguing that because Beefeaters have always been male, a woman should not be permitted to hold such a position in order to preserve and prolong the archaic tradition? This notion is obsolete within the UK, which has strong anti-discrimination legislation implemented to ensure workplace equality and objectivity in areas of age, sex, ethnicity, creed etc. Hence as women are allowed to hold virtually any occupation that a man can take, it would be morally unacceptable, and even an impingement of one's legal rights, to merely prejudice on the basis of sex.
My opinion on the matter is that as long as the job is performed to the same high standard, and the individual possesses the prerequisite experience and qualifications, sex should not be a factor in such a case. It is probable that the two suspended male Beefeaters in question have been allegedly harassing the female Beefeater because they disdain the minor change to their working environment. But these aged men fail to recognise that change and progression is a fact of life, and have no rational reasoning as to why a woman in modern Britain cannot hold the position.

It had nothing to do with the location as it did not matter. The point that I was trying to make was that there should be nothing wrong if a gender, race, or religion wants to form a group that is exclusively them.
Don't get me wrong here, I am not saying that I agree with the KKK or anything, but if they want to have a club sobeit.
I really don't agree with violence against the people that disagree with you. Again, the KKK is an example of this.
I just think that if a group of guys have a club for a decade or more, it should not be a problem keeping a woman out.
I don't agree with your opinions and you don't agree with mine. That is fine with me. However, if I was a male in the Beefeaters and I suddenly had a female join the ranks after all the years of being all male, I would have been pissed and gave her a hard time too!
