lets get some contraversy (sp?) :Oo: started.
what do you all think about the u.s showing pictures of suddams dead sons on tv? i think it was so hypocritical of them (but what else is new) when just a while ago, they were getting very upset that iraqi tv was showing footage of some wounded and dead american soldiers, saying it was inhumain. they just wanted to boost troop (and probably civilian) moral by doing this. i can see maybe showing it a bit in iraq to show the iraqi people they are dead. but its all over the news. i thought video games and violent movies are supposed to warp childrens minds (thats what im always hearing politicions say) so whats the difference when kids see these graphic pictures of 2 people dead and everyone beeing stoked about it? i think thats worse. |

2 words:
media frenzy The DOD release the pics to be shown in Iraq. They weren't sent to NBC to show on the evening news, but the media here does as it pleases (That pesky Freedom of the Press thing, ya know).

Why would America NOT show of by broadcasting video reccordings wich shows that Saddam Husseins sons is dead? As soon as America get the chance they will -by any means- try to hurt or kill Saddam Hussein and his family. George Bush thinks that he can do as he wants just because he's The Mother f**king president of The United States. Why doeas he do that? Because he can and wants.
f**k You Very Much, George Bush.

we can't even respect deads nowaday
they did what they did (or at least what they say they did...), but they are empty dead bodies now, 2000 years ago people were showing losers dead bodies, I thought we had improved a bit. completely agree on media with Bucky though, they ALL suck.. including online gaming websites ;) |

Moved to appropriate forum, as I got a feeling that this might turn into a heated debate
Let me add to it: I'm pretty sure the current American administration WANTED those pictures to be shown on all national TV stations. For all the reasons mentioned above by kaotik. If not, they would indeed release a media advisory WARNING TV networks not to show them. But since those aren't American citizens (I'm personally used to everyone non-American being treated by US govrnment as "second class" human being), and (what's more important) this won't have any bad effect on the public opinion in USA, they allowed them to continue showing all that. Hypocrisy as usual in regards to 'humane treatment', but I think we should all just get used to it. Just a question for all the Americans on our boards - how can you guys let YOUR government do that? I'm pretty sure that if it'd happen in Canada all the human rights activist watchgroups would have a party - but what about USA?

About the videos being shown of Uday and Qusay, here is a link Video That video is for the Iraqi people who genuinely fear those two evil son's of saddam and saddam's regeime. The more the people of Iraq realize these guys arn't comming back is to strengthen the moral of the Iraqi people. Uday was a member of the Iraqi national secrity council. Qusay was the head of the internal intelligence agencies. They helped run a sadistic government using the instrument of fear and terror to rule.
Among their tools of keeping the population loyal were rape, torture, and (mass)murder. Some reported methods of torture are eye gouging, piercing of hands with electric drill, suspension from ceiling, electric shock, sexual abuse, falaqa, mock executions, and acids baths. Iraq had professional rapists employed by the government who's business cards identified them as a “fighter in the popular army” whose “activity” is “violation of women’s honour” (i.e. a professional rapist). Uday ordered the tortured of the national football team (caned the soles of their feet) for performing below his expectations in the olympics in 96' (one team member defected to the US during their stay in Atlanta). And about murder, remember the Kurds attacked by chemical warfare that resulted in over 5,000 dead in Halabja? These are just a few examples of how the former Iraqi government operated. Uday and Qusay were involved in this leadership. You can rest assured that saddam will be displayed also, if possible. Sorry for those of you who feel sympathy saddam's family. So, was the showing of the video a double standard and hypocritical? Who cares? |

I do not feel sympathy with Saddam. But neither do I feel sympathy for double standards (as illustrated above). So it's OK to show dead Iraqi soldiers, Saddam's sons and so on, but dead American troops on TV is an "inhumane" act? Ye, ok, here we go into double standards again. And it's nice for you to be able to find an excuse... Other people have run out of excuses long ago.
