Ok, this isn't about WoW, but it might be one day. A 17 year old Dutch gamer has been arrested for "stealing" some virtual furniture from another player's virtual room, on social networking site Habbo Hotel.
It is believed the teenager used a technique that WoW players are familiar with - he allegedly created a site that claimed it was legitimate, and then requested visitors enter their user names and passwords. The reason an arrest was made is because the stolen furniture in question was bought with real money, and came to around 4000 euros, so it wasn't just retrievable epics that were lost. Habbo Hotel is a network where players can create a character, decorate their rooms and play games with other players, but the items bought in game are purchased with credits, which are in turn purchased with real money. The police said "We have had much of this scamming going on in many countries but this is the first case where the police have taken legal action." |

Doubt Blizzard would ever make any items that can be purchased with credits. Because then those items are yours to do with as you see fit in game and I doubt blizzard is willing to lose control of their IP like they did with Diablo II.
