been playing since 2nd beta
And I love it I have been looking for a new MMO for a while after almost 4 years of Guild Wars and 1 of Shaiya (its not bad but to be competitive you have to spend loads of cash) Ive never played a P2P before so I was apprehensive So I started checking out ten day trials. I tried Conan, LOTRO, Warhammer, Lineage 2, Runes of magic in between the Aion betas and none of them were even close to Aion for grabbing my interest. A few of them were so bad I cant believe people pay to play them. Warhammer was ok but was a nightmare to download and get pached it was like they didnt want me to try it.
When you first start Aion the eye candy is amazing and you breeze through to level 10 when things start to get really interesting as you start to get enough skillt to link some combos together and of course get your wings. People keep talking about the grinding being hard but its nothing compared to Shaiya I got 75-80% of exp per lvl doing quests and killing random mobs as I explored quickly got the other 20%. The gathering system is sweet you dont have to specialize you can get ore plants fish and the like to get you going down the path to crafting. In crafting you need to do a quest and build exp in the areas that interest you there are at least 5 different crafting types and you can choose to do them all or stick to the ones that complement each other. There is a Trade system in place and it works well you pay a small fee to list your items, But there are also personal stores that other players set up (these are where you will find the best deals). There is a pretty good skill balance at low levels except for the Clerics which are overpowered in combat. Im curently at lvl 22 on my Main and have just entered the first pvpve zone and went out questing and about 30 min in I looked up and saw 2 Eloys heading my way so I put up a short lived fight and rezed back in town. I took this wonderful opportunity to gather a small force and go back but due to our lack of coordination and the High lvl Eloy Cleric we were fighting we were slowly being defeated but we put up a hell of a good fight and I learned a lot. after my next spawn we headed back out with the same group and this time we had a plan which worked well and the Eloys cut and ran so we gave chase and managed to kill one. The other got away but continued to hit and run solo players but before we could run her down the Beta ended. So here I sit in withdrawals waiting for the 22nd of Sept. There are two more betas but like a junkie it will only get me buy until release. Aion has familiar elements to a lot of MMOs and a lot of people try to grab onto a few things that arnt as good as their game and on micro scale they may be right but Aion is so much more than the sum of those parts, give it a chance to shine as a whole and I don't think you'll be disappointed.
So Unleash the Flamethrowers if you will but ill be enjoying My next MMO and it will be Aion
